WH (Heer) 'Pioniere' Officer's Visor Cap
WH (Heer) 'Pioniere' Officer's Visor Cap (Schirmmütze). Visor caps were a standard item for all armed forces personnel during the Third Reich period. Although enlisted personnel were issued their caps from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored caps. This is a nice private purchased Officer's example. Complete with celluloid manufacturers sweat-diamond ('Raute'), maker marked by the famous 'Erel' company. The cap has no visible size markings, the cap is a large size, approximately size 57/58. The Visor cap is piped in the black 'Truppenfarbe' (branch-colour) for Engineer (Pioniere) personnel. The padded leather sweatband is in good used condition, the sweatband is nicely marked with 'Erel Patent'. The cap is complete with it's original officer's type hand-embroiderd cocarde and early nickel-silver cap-eagle. The cap shows normal traces of usage and has a great so-called 'Sattelform' shape, see photos. There is one small moth damage at the back. Nice original visor cap in very good condition!
