Dutch Artillery 'Kepie'
Dutch 'Kepie' (Buitenmodel). This kepi was part of the 'buitenmodel' tunic, these tunics were privately purchased tunics in field blue-grey woolen cloth. Soldiers who were not able to buy a complete tunic often bought only the kepi. This is a soldiers rank kepi, recognizable by the double red coloured piping. The red coloured piping is indicating that this kepi belonged to a soldier within an Artillery Regiment. The kepi has a metal roman '1' attached to the front indicating the 1st Regiment Artillery. The leather sweatband is in used condition, the visor is slightly damaged, see photos. The kepi is tailor marked on the lining, the marking is hard to read. Unfortunately there is some small moth damage, see photos. Nice original kepi in good used condition!
