Dutch 'Buitenmodel' Tunic Grouping
This is a nice original so-called 'Buitenmodel' tunic grouping as intended for an Infantry Sergeant within the 'Geneeskundige Dienst' (Medical Service). The grouping is consisting of his tunic and trousers as found together. The 'buitenmodel' tunic is a privately purchased tunic in field green-grey woolen cloth. The tunic is having the blue branch-colour piping which indicates Infantry. The tunic has the so-called 'Bananenschillen' on the sleeves which indicates the rank of 'Sergeant'. The tunic has a enamelled red cross insignia sewn to each collar tip which indicates that he was a member within the medical service, these insignia might have been added later. A tag with his unit and service number is sewn inside one of the pockets. The breeches are having the Infantry blue piping down the outside leg seams. The breeches are in heavily used and repaired condition, see photos. Nice original Dutch 'Buitenmodel' tunic!
