Dutch Red Hussars 'Kepie' (Buitenmodel). This kepi was part of the 'buitenmodel' tunic, these tunics were privately purchased tunics in field blue-grey woolen cloth. Soldiers who were not able to buy a complete tunic often bought only the kepi. This is a soldiers rank kepi, recognizable by the double red coloured piping. The kepi has a metal regimental cypher '3' attached to the front, beneath a silver/white coloured cocarde. The red coloured piping in combination with the silver/white coloured cocarde is indicating that this kepi belonged to a soldier within the 3rd Regiment Hussars (Cavalry). The kepi is not visible maker marked. Unfortunately there is some small moth damage, see photos. Nice original kepi in good used condition!
