'Adolf Hitler' Table Bust
This is an original period 'Adolf Hitler' Table Bust (Büste des Reichskanzlers Adolf Hitler). The one piece bronze coloured zinc-construction bust and pedestal are approximately 16,5cms high. The non-magnetic bust is nicely maker marked by 'H.M. Ley', Hedwig Maria Ley (1888-1978) was a German sculptor from Soest. Ley studied at the applied arts school in Munich and became a student of Hans Stangl from 1920. She sympathized with the Nazi movement and was personally acquainted with Adolf Hitler. The Hitler bust made by her in 1932 was the first Hitler work of art authorized by the party. This is an example of the Bust she sculpted in 1932. The cast type one-piece zinc bust remains most of its original bronze finish and shows some minor scratches, see photos. Hard to find original bust in very good condition!
