Swastika Flag and Medals in US Souvernir Box
NSDAP - National Swastika Flag (Politische Fahne) in US Soldier's mail-home wooden souvernir box. The souvernir grouping is stored in a wooden souvernir box from a US Special Agent. US soldiers made these boxes to ship home with souvernirs from the war. The wooden box is made of recycled wood and has two labels pasted on, one German address that it was sent from Germany to the USA and a second label in which the sender assures that the box doesn't contain any items of U.S. Government property. The box was sent home by Special Agent 'J.D. Dobson' who was a 'Director of Intell. (CIC)' (Counter Intelligence Corps) at the HQ of the USAFE (United States Air Forces in Europe). The wooden box comes together with a Swastika Flag and various US and German Insignia, Medals and Badges. Probably one of the most recognizable items associated with the Nazi regime (third Reich) is the swastika flag. Utilized by almost all the organization of the Third Reich. The double-sided multi-piece construction flag is sized approximately 101 x 53 cms. The dual-sided flag has a red cotton base with a separate, machine stitched white roundel, having a black printed on Swastika, to the center of each side. The flag is having cotton loops to place it on a cord or pole. The flag shows some small damages and staining but is in overall good condition, see photos. The box is including a large amount of US metal tunic insignia and various US medals, some have been issued to him post-war and have probably been added to his box of souvernirs later once he got them awarded. The German insignia are including an insignia grouping for Luftwaffe Paratrooper Lieutenant, consisting of a pair of collar tabs, shoulder boards and a 'Fallschirmjäger' patch. Also included is a nice zinc type Luftwaffe Ground Assault Badge, this badge can be attributed to production by the company of 'C.E. Juncker' from Berlin. Regrettably the catch has been broken and it is missing the eagle device. Also included are a nice War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords, a DRL Sports Badge, an Ostmedal and an aluminum Police Cap Eagle in very good condition. Take a look at the photos for more details. Interesting original grouping!
