Cased Iron Cross 1st Class with 'Überkarton'
Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse) that comes in its original etui and its so-called 'Überkarton' (carton box). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The first class medal was for award to personnel who performed three to five acts of bravery in combat, and had already been awarded the Iron Cross second class. The magnetic cross has a three piece construction with an iron core. The cross is nicely maker marked with number '65' indicating production by the company of 'Klein & Quenzer AG' from Idar-Oberstein. The cross is having a functional pin and catch. The etui is in an overall very good condition and still stored in it's original carton box. The carton box (Überkarton) is matching maker marked by the company of 'Klein & Quenzer AG' from Oberstein. The carton box is showing minor damage and is in overall very good condition. Rare and hard to find original set with 'Überkarton'!
