Death notice (Sterbebild). A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. This is a death notice for 'Johann Zellinger' who was a 'Gefreiter' within a 'Grenadierregiment'. He was killed in action on 30 October 1942 at Stalingrad. Johann was awarded with the Iron Cross 2nd class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse), the Infantry Assault Badge in Silver (Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in Silber) and the black wound badge (Verwundeten Abzeichen in Schwarz). This death notice measures approximately 12,5 x 11 cms. Interesting original death notice!
