Dutch Military Cyclist's Short Overcoat
Dutch Military Cyclist's Short Overcoat (Wielrijders Jekker). The coat is made of high quality fieldgrey woolen cloth used to manufacture privately purchased tunics, so-called 'Buitenmodel' tunics. The coat has two rows of five front closure buttons and a single metal hook and eye at the neckline. The coat is having having 3 rank stars nicely period hand embroidered directly onto each collar tab, another set of rank pips is nicely hand sewn on the underside of the collar tabs, this was a typical feature for cyclist's to make sure the rank was visible during all cirumstances, also when the collar was worn up to protect against windy circumstances. The coat is having tailor labels attached from the company 'Handelsvereniging v/h Julius Huf' from Amsterdam. Rare and hard to find original Dutch Military Cyclist's Short Overcoat in very good condition!
