WH (Kriegsmarine) cap-tally 'Unterseebootsflottille Wegener' for wear on the donald-duck cap (Tellermütze). The Unterseebootsflottilla Wegener was founded on 25 June 1938 as the 7th Unterseebootsflottilla. The Flotilla was named in honour of Kapitänleutnant Bernd Wegener. Wegener, an U-boat commander during World War I, died on 19 August 1915 after his submarine U-27 was sunk by British Q-ship HMS Baralong. The Flotilla had one hundred ten U-Boats under its command. The cap-tally is executed in golden-yellow thread in 'BeVo' like weave-pattern. It shows only some wrinkling and folding lines caused by years of storage. The Tally measures approximately 112cms in length. Rare and hard to find original U-boat cap-tally in good used condition!
