Luftwaffe Pilots Badge - 'BSW'

Description

Luftwaffe Pilots Badge (Flugzeugführerabzeichen). The Pilot's badge was originally introduced in january 1935 as an DLV (Deutsche Luftsport Verband) award, the Luftwaffe officially adopted the award on 26 march 1936 by order of 'Hermann Göring'. The badge was awarded to Luftwaffe personnel who completed the theory and training and achieved their military pilot’s licence. The badge is a nice example made of tombak (Buntmetall). The badge is nicely maker marked with a clover leaf containing the initials 'BSW' indicating production by the company of 'Brüder Schneider A.G.' from Wien (Vienna). The badge shows very nice & pronounced detail overall and is showing a nice darkened age patina on both the wreath and eagle. The badge has naturally a functional pin & catch construction, the barrel hinge however has been repaired, see photos. Nice original BSW Pilots Badge in used and worn condition!
