LW 'Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger' in Gold
Luftwaffe 'Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger in Gold mit Anhänger' (heavy, medium & dive bombers squadron clasp in gold with pendant). The 'Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger und Sturzkampfflieger' was introduced by 'Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring' on 30 January 1941. The clasps were awarded in three grades of, Bronze for twenty operational flights, Silver for sixty operational flights, and Gold for one hundred ten operational flights, the star burst pendant device signified four hundred operational flights. This badge is a very nice early 'Buntmetall' (tombac) example. There are no visible maker markings. The clasp has naturally a functional pin & catch construction. The clasp still retains almost all of it's original golden finish, de bomb is still showing a strong black finish. The badge is showing two small soldered on arms with looped ends to secure the star burst pendant for four hundred operational flights. The pendant is made of zinc and retains almost all of it's original golden finish. Rare original clasp in stunning condition! Not cheap but this is the best example I've ever encountered, the clasp originates from my own private collection.
