Spange to the Iron Cross 2nd Class 'L/16'
Iron Cross 2nd Class Repetition Clasp 1939 to the Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914 (Wiederholungsspange 1939 für das Eiserne Kreuz 2.Klasse 1914). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross series of awards in the First and Second Classes and established the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross and two new Spangen (Bars) for the first and second class awards to be bestowed to recipients of the 1939 Iron Cross who had also been awarded a first or second class 1914 Iron Cross during WWI. The tombak clasp is nicely maker marked with 'L/16' indicating production by the company of 'Steinhauer & Lück' from Lüdenscheid. The clasp is complete with its 4 original prongs and comes attached to its original piece ribbon as found. The clasp still retains most of its original silver finish and the details are pronounced and stunning. Nice original example in very good condition!
