Wehrmacht Entrenching Tool with 'ersatz' carrying case (Spaten mit Spatentasche). The entrenching tool was a basic item issued to all EM/NCO’s and was issued with a specific carrying case that was to be worn on the belt. The carrying case is made of a tan, 'Ersatz' type, simulated leather. The leather is a bit dry. The cover is not visible maker marked or dated. The shovel is nicely maker marked 'ekz' indicating production by the company of 'Richard Henkel' from Viernau. The shovel is a bit rusty, see photos. The set is in overall good used condition, hard to find original entrenching tool with simulated leather cover!
