WH (Heer) M40 SD Chicken Wire Combat Helmet
Wehrmacht (Heer) M40 Single Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The stamped sheet steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, field-grey paint. The paint shows normal wear and scratches caused by usage, see photos. A standard Heeres decal is applied to the left side of the helmet, the decal is retained for about 95%. This is a eagle with thin wings which can be attributed to the firm of 'Huber Jordan u. Koerner', often found on 'EF' made helmets. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact, the liner is size '55' marked. The liner is complete with its original liner cord. The shell is marked with maker and size 'EF62'. 'EF' is indicating production by the 'Emaillerwerke AG' from Fulda. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped lot-number '11603'. The helmet is complete with its original chinstrap. The helmet is having a nice looking half-basket chicken wire camouflage attached. The wire is all made of old wire and steel, however I'm not sure if this was period applied or post-war applied and therefore I will sell this helmet as an original single decal helmet with possibly added chicken wire. Take a look at the photos and make up your own opinion, this helmet will for sure look great in a display. No garantuee on the chicken wire and because of that the helmet is priced accordingly at half the price of an unquestionable SD wire helmet!
This helmet originates from the collection of the recently closed Eyewitness Museum!
