Death notice (Sterbebild). A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. This is a death notice for 'Carl Strobl' who was an 'Obergefreiter' within a 'Panzer Aufklärungs-Abteilung'. He was killed in action on 15 September 1944 at Arcey in France. Carl is wearing his black-coloured panzer wrapper (Panzer-uniform) with recognizable 'skulls' on his collar-tabs. This death notice measures approximately 14 x 11,5 cms. Interesting original death notice!
