LW Combined Pilot-Observer Badge - GWL
Luftwaffe Combined Pilot-Observer Badge (Gemeinsames Flugzeugführer- u. Beobachterabzeichen). The Combined Pilot-Observer's badge was officially instituted by 'Hermann Göring' on 19 January 1935. The badge was to be awarded to personnel who qualified as both pilot and observer. This badge is a nice early war example made of tombak (Buntmetall). The badge is nicely maker marked with 'GWL' indicating production by the company of the 'Gebrüder Wegerhoff' from Lüdenscheid. The badge still retains almost all of its original gold finish showing polished highlights, the eagle is showing a beautiful darkened age-patina. The badge shows very nice & pronounced detail overall. The badge has naturally a functional pin & catch construction. Hard to find original badge in very good condition!
