Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze - L/53
'Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze' (Panzer Assault Badge). The Panzer Assault Badge in bronze was instituted by 'Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch' on '1 june 1940' for award to Panzer-Grenadier, medical, and armored car personnel who participated in three different armored assaults on three different days. This is a nice 'Feinzink' example which shows outstanding detail, the badge regrettably lost most of it's original bronze finish. The piece is nicely maker marked with 'L/53' indicating production by the company of 'Hymmen & Co.', based in Lüdenscheid. The badge is showing the typical Hymmen cartoonish design. Of course are the pin and catch fully functional. The badge is in used condition, but still a rare and desirable original badge missing in most collections!
