S98/05 Combat Bayonet with Frog (Seitengewehr 98/05 n.A.), a so called 'butcher' knife. The S98/05 bayonet was introduced in 1905 and modified in 1915 in a new version called 'neuer Art'. The bayonet was a standard issue item and was accompanied by a bayonet frog to be worn on the reverse left side of the load carrying waist belt. The S98/05 bayonet remained in service and was still used during WW2 by both Military and Police units. The bayonet is nicely maker marked by the company of 'Alex Coppel' from Solingen and dated 1915. The blade is in good used, slightly sharpened, condition, the bayonet is having wooden grips. The bayonet comes with its original leather bayonet frog as found together. The bayonet is in uncleaned, slightly rusted, condition as found. Nice original S98/05 bayonet in good used condition!
