K98 Combat Bayonet '42 asw' with Portepee

K98 Combat Bayonet (Seitengewehr 98K). The K98 bayonet was a standard issue item and was accompanied by a bayonet frog to be worn on the reverse left side of the load carrying waist belt. The K98 bayonet remained the standard issue bayonet through-out the war with minor manufacturing variations. The bayonet is marked with serial-number '4544', the scabberd with serial number '2751'. The bayonet is maker marked and dated '42 asw' indicating production by the company of 'E. & F. Horster & Co.' from Solingen in 1942. The blade is in good used condition, the bayonet is having wooden grips. The bayonet is showing some surface pitting. It comes with its original leather bayonet frog. Attached to the frog is an original troddel as intended for a soldier within the 7th Company within an Infantry Regiment or a soldier within the 6th battery within an Artillery Regiment. This bayonet was found like this by a collector on a farm near Goes in Zeeland (The Netherlands) in the 90s. Nice original bayonet in good used condition!
