Luftwaffe Wrist Compass (Armbandkompaß AK39). The AK39 (Armbandkompaß 39) was developed in 1939 for wear by pilots and aircrew personnel to calculating their position if forced to abandon their aircraft or in crash landing situations. The AK39 was designed to be worn on the wrist, although it was often attached to other pieces of equipment. The black coloured bakelite compass is in good functional condition. The compass is neatly marked on the back with a Work number (Werk Nr: 3822661) and a Luftwaffe Contract Number (Anforderz.: FL23235). The compass is nicely maker marked by the 'Kadlec Instrumentenfabrik' from Prague. The compass is complete with its original leather straps including the rare extension piece which could be used to wear the compass over the padded winter coveralls.
