WH (Heer) Gasmask with Canister
WH (Heer) Gasmask with Canister (Gasmaske M38 mit Blechbüchse M38) complete with both the short and long carrying strap and a pair of spare glasses (Klarscheiben). All German Army personnel were issued with a gasmask, carrying canister and accessories and were required to have it readily available at all times. Fear of the potential use of chemical warfare agents made the gasmask and canister a constant companion of the German soldier through-out the war. The M30 gasmasks were produced in a rubberized canvas with metal fittings while the M38 gasmasks were produced in molded, rubber and were also equipped with metal fittings. This is a M30 type mask with an 'Fe41' type filter. The gasmask is very stiff and not flexible anymore. The filter is in good condition. The M38 type canister is nicely maker marked and dated 1944. The canister is complete with both the long and short carrying straps. The matching straps are in used condition. A name tag is sewn to one of the gasmask straps. Nice original gasmask set in used condition!
This gasmask set originates from the collection of the recently closed Eyewitness Museum and was in display in the diorama in the last picture!

WH (Heer) Gasmasker met Bus (Gasmaske M38 mit Blechbüchse M38) compleet met de korte en de lange draagriemen en een set reserve-glaasjes (Klarscheiben). Al het Duitse legerpersoneel werd uitgerust met een gasmasker in bus en accessoires en moest het ten alle tijde paraat hebben. Angst voor een gasaanval zorgde ervoor dat het gasmasker in bus gedurende de oorlog een constante metgezel van iedere Duitse soldaat is geweest. Het M30 gasmasker werd geproduceerd van een verubberd canvas met metalen onderdelen en het M38 gasmasker werd geproduceerd van compleet rubber, ook met metalen delen. Dit is een M30 type gasmasker met een 'Fe41' type filter. Het gasmasker is wat stijf en niet meer flexibel, het filter is in goede staat. De M38 type gasmasker bus is mooi maker gemarkeerd en 1944 gedateerd. De bus is compleet met beide draagriemen, de matchende riemen zijn in gebruikte staat. Op de riemen van het gasmasker zit een naametiket genaaid. Mooie originele gasmasker set in gebruikte staat!
Dit gasmasker is afkomstig uit de collectie van het onlangs gesloten Eyewitness Museum en was voorheen te zien in het diorama dat wordt getoond in de laaste foto!
