WH (Heer) Officer's Tropical Signals Overseas Cap

Description

WH (Heer) DAK Officer's Tropical Signals Overseas Cap (Tropenfeldmütze für Offiziere). In late 1940, with the impending German entrance into the North African campaign, tropical uniforms and equipment were quickly developed and issued in time for DAK personnel's arrival in Tripoli in February 1941. Originally the tropical uniforms were only intended for wear in North Africa but that was later expanded to include personnel serving in southern areas of continental Europe during the summer months. The tropical overseas cap is complete with a nicely factory machine-sewn BeVo woven cocarde and a hand-sewn BeVo-woven Wehrmacht tropical style cap eagle. The cap is having silver officers piping attached to the crown and side panels of the cap. The silver piping has subdued to an extent that it almost looks the same as the tropical cloth. The cap is complete with a yellow coloured soutache indicating a Signals (Nachrichten) officer. The cap is nicely maker marked by the company of 'Hans Brandt' from Magdeburg. The cap is in size 53 marked and is dated November 1942 (1142). Rare original Tropical 'Afrikakorps' Officer's Overseas Cap in very good condition!
