WH (Heer) Officer's M43 Cap (Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Offiziere). The M43 field cap was introduced for wear by all ranks on 11 June 1943 as a replacement cap for all other field caps then in use. The design of the M43 field cap was based on the earlier M42 overseas cap (Feldmütze) and the Mountain Trooper’s Mountain Cap (Bergmütze) with minor variations. The standard issue M43 field caps were constructed of field-grey wool. This is a privately purchased type M43 cap having a silver piping originally attached to the crown of the cap, this is indicating an officer's rank. The cap is complete with an original BeVo flat-wire woven trapezoid which is period machine-sewn to the cap. The cap is having rayon lining material, there is a small stamp '57' indicating the size. A leather sweatband has regrettably been removed once. Nice and nowadays scare original M43 Officer's cap is in good used condition, this one will make a great display!
