Dutch Liberation Souvernir German Helmet

Description

Dutch Liberation Souvernir German M42 Helmet (Stahlhelm M42). The stamped sheet steel construction M42 helmet is showing a thick (allied) olive-green overpaint, a Heeres decal looks to be visible beneath the paint. A white coloured allied (US) star is painted on top of the helmet, decorated with small dots and stars in the colours of the Dutch flag red/white/blue. A Dutch flag on pole has been painted on front of the helmet. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet has a M31 leather liner without drawstring, the damaged metal liner band is maker marked and dated 1940, the liner is showing clear traces of the olive-green overpaint as well. The shell is marked with maker and size 'ET66' which indicates production by the company 'Eisen-und Hüttenwerke, AG' in Thale/Harz. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number. The helmet is complete with its original leather chinstrap. This nicely decorated German helmet was kept as a souvernir to the Dutch liberation on 5 may 1945. Really cool and unique liberation souvernir helmet in good condition!
