Luftwaffe Single Decal M40 Combat Helmet
Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, blue-gray paint and about 85% of the decal, the decal is showing typical later war period lacquer around the decal. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact, the leather is still supple, the liner is a size '56'. The liner is complete with its original liner cord. The shell is marked with maker and size 'hkp64'. 'hkp' is indicating production by the 'Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke A.G.' from Lauter. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped lot-number '1282'. The helmet shows normal traces of usage but is in overall very good condition. This helmet was taken to the USA as a souvernir by a US GI during World War 2, the helmet is in untouched original condition. Nice original Luftwaffe helmet!
