Rare Single Decal 'Reichsarbeitsdienst' M40 Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). RAD Helmets are always reissued WH (Heer) helmets, sometimes the RAD decal was placed on top of a Heeres decal, in this case the Heer decal has been removed prior on applying the RAD decal. The stamped sheet steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, field-grey paint. The paint shows normal wear and scratches caused by usage. The RAD decal is present for about 90%. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is an M31 leather liner with eight fingers, the liner is good used condition. The original liner cord is present. The shell is marked with maker and size 'ET64' which indicates production by the company 'Eisen-und Hüttenwerke, AG' in Thale/Harz. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number '1427'. The helmet is complete with its original slightly shortened chinstrap as found. Rarely seen original RAD helmet in good condition!
