Wehrmacht (Heer) M40 ex Dubbel Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The stamped sheet steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its original field-grey paint, both decals have been removed from the helmet. The helmet looks to be cleaned once. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is an very early 1931 dated M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact. The liner might have been replaced in the past. The liner cord has been replaced. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Q64'. 'Q' is indicating production by the 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' in Esslingen. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped lot-number. The helmet comes with an unfortunately damaged/broken chinstrap, see photos. Overall still a nice helmet for a very fair price!
