WH (Heer) Feldgendarmerie/Recruiting Officer's Visor Cap (Schirmmütze). Visor caps were a standard item for all armed forces personnel during the Third Reich period. Although enlisted personnel were issued their caps from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored caps. This is a nice privately purchased Officer's example. Complete with celluloid manufacturers sweat-diamond ('Raute') which is nicely maker marked by the company 'Hammaburg'. The cap has no visible size markings, the size is approximately 58cms. The Visor cap is piped in the bright orange-red branch-colour (Truppenfarbe) as intended for an officer within a either a 'recruiting' (Kreiswehrersatzamt) or a 'Feldgendarmerie' unit, see last photo for comparison in colour with an Artillery visor cap. The leather sweatband is in very good condition. The cap is complete with an original hand-embroidered cocarde and nickel-silver cap-eagle. The cap is in good condition showing only some minor moth-damage, see photos. Nice original visor cap in good condition!
