WH (Heer) 'Jäger' Officer's M43 Cap
WH (Heer) 'Jäger' Officer's M43 Cap (Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Offiziere). The M43 field cap was introduced for wear by all ranks on 11 June 1943 as a replacement cap for all other field caps then in use. The design of the M43 field cap was based on the earlier M42 overseas cap (Feldmütze) and the Mountain Trooper’s Mountain Cap (Bergmütze) with minor variations. The wool construction M43 cap is having silver officers piping attached to the crown of the cap. The cap is having grey rayon lining material, the cap is nicely RB.Nr. 0/0389/0332 marked and dated 'E44' (1944', the cap is a size '58'. The cap is complete with an original machine-applied silver flat-wire woven officer's type cap-eagle/cocarde trapezoid. A 'Jäger' troops insignia is attached to the left side. German Jäger Divisions were first formed in December 1940, by reorganizing Infantry Divisions into light pursuit divisions. On 2 October 1942 a cap-badge for wear on the left side of all (M43) field caps was introduced. The zinc type badge is attached with two pins and sewn to the cap. The cap is in good, clearly used and worn, condition, see photos. Nice and nowadays hard to find original WH Heer M43 cap!
