WH (Heer) M40 SD Combat Helmet

Wehrmacht (Heer) M40 Single Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). 'Q64' marked helmet, complete with its original slightly damaged liner and incomplete chinstrap. Found in Saint-Georges-d'Aunay (France). Nice original M40 combat helmet in good used condition!

Description

Wehrmacht (Heer) M40 Single Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The stamped sheet steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, field-grey paint. The paint shows normal wear and scratches caused by usage, see photos. A standard Heeres decal is applied to the left side of the helmet, the decal is retained for about 75%. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is an M31 leather liner with steel liner-ring, all eight fingers are present however in heavily used and partly damaged condition, see photos. The liner is missing its liner cord. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Q64' which indicates production by the company of 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' from Esslingen. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number 'S1634'. The helmet is complete with an original but regrettably damaged and broken chinstrap as found. The helmet is showing some surface rust. The helmet is in uncleaned and untouched condition as found in Saint-Georges-d'Aunay in Normandy in France. Nice and honest original M40 combat helmet in good used condition!
