WH (Heer)/SS M35 Single Decal Camouflaged Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M35). The steel construction reissued M35 helmet retains most of its rough textured (field-applied) various shades of fieldgrey/grey camouflage over-paint. I could not find any decals visible beneath the thick paint. The paint shows normal wear and scratches, see photos. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with eight fingers and a steel liner ring. The leather is showing clear traces of age, see photos. The liner is complet with its original drawstring. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Q64' which indicates production by the company of 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' from Esslingen. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number '1138', this lot number is known to have been issued to the SS as well, various helmets from this lot are known with SS decals. Due to the thick camouflage overpaint it is hard to tell if this helmet started life as an SS helmet or not, or if it might have been reissued to a Heeres or Naval unit. The grey shades in this camouflage however would look great on any SS or Naval set-up. Overall a nice original camouflage helmet for a fair price!
