The bicycle plate was introduced in the Netherlands on 1 August 1924. Every cyclist, with a few exceptions, had to pay tax for his two-wheeler by purchasing a metal plate to be attached to the bicycle. This is a bicycle tax plate from the year 1939-1940, it comes in a privately purchased protective leather cover as found together. Decorative original item!
