Dutch 'Buitenmodel' Tunic Grouping
This is a nice original so-called 'Buitenmodel' tunic grouping as intended for an Infantry sergeant within the 1st Battalion, 1st Company 17th Regiment Infantry. The grouping is consisting of a tunic, vest, a pair of pants, overseas cap and kepi as found together. The 'buitenmodel' tunic is a privately purchased tunic in field green-grey woolen cloth. The tunic is having the blue branch-colour piping which indicates Infantry. The tunic has the so-called 'Bananenschillen' on the sleeves which indicates the rank of 'Sergeant'. A nice hand-embroidered insignia is sewn to the wearer's right sleeve indicating that this sergeant was an exceptionally practiced hand grenade thrower. The tunic shows some normal traces of usage and the tunic is showing small moth damages, see photos. The tunic comes with a never before seen vest, apparently this sergeant liked to wear his tunic as a three-piece suit. The pants are in heavily used and repaired condition, see photos. The overseas cap is matching in colour with the tunic and is in good used condition. The Kepi is in good used condition, the blue coloured piping is indicating that this kepi belonged to a sergeant within an Infantry Regiment. The kepi has the metal numbers '17' attached to the front indicating that the sergeant served within the 17th Regiment Infantry. According to the family where this tunic comes from he served within the 1st Battalion, 1st Company 17th Regiment Infantry, his name and information where he came from will be provided to the buyer. The family included one post-war photo of him in his post-war tunic. Also included is the front-plate (helmplaat) of his combat helmet which he removed from his helmet in May 1940. Interesting original Dutch tunic grouping!
