Knight's Cross Grouping
Knight's Cross Grouping to Major d.R. 'Ignaz Graf von und zu Hoensbroech'. The grouping is including his Soldbuch, his Cased German Cross in Gold, his cased Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and various other insignia, his dagger, medals and documents. According to his Soldbuch he was awarded with the following awards:
- 20 October 1939 - Iron Cross 2nd Class
- 22 June 1940 - Iron Cross 1st Class
- 27 July 1940 - Wound Badge in Black
- 22 June 1940 - Panzer Assault Badge in Bronze
- 16 july 1942 - Ostmedal
- 10 December 1942 - Romanian Star 5th Class with Swords
- 1 December 1943 - German Cross in Gold
- 25 March 1944 - Wound Badge in Silver
- 7 June 1944 - Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross
- 8 May 1945 - Kurland Cufftitle
He took part in the Poland Campaign in September 1939. In May 1940 he took part in the invasion of France in. On 22 June 1941 he took part in the invasion of Russia and in February 1945 he took part in the battle in the Kurland area. Included in the grouping is a promotion document of his promotion to 'Leutnant', this document is personally signed by Generalfeldmarschall 'Walther von Brauchitsch'. The document is stained. Also included are a congratulations letter for being awarded with the German Cross in Gold and another congratulations letter for him being awarded with the Knight's Cross, this letter is personally signed by Generalinspekteur der Panzertruppen 'Heinz Guderian'. The cased 'Deutsches Kreuz in Gold' is a light weight version, maker marked with number '134' indicating production by the company of 'Otto Klein' from Hanau am Main. The cross is in worn condition showing a nice patina. The cross comes in its matching black coloured case. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuzes) is in truly worn condition showing a great patina. The cross comes with its original confectioned piece of ribbon as it was worn around the neck. The cross is a nice 'Klein & Quenzer AG' produced Knight's Cross and comes in it's rare original matching case which is nicely marked by 'Klein & Quenzer AG' from Idar-Oberstein. The grouping also includes his Dagger, complete with dagger-hangers and portepee, his collar-tabs, shoulder-boards and breast-eagle, a nice screw-back Iron Cross 1st class and a Wound Badge in Silver as well as various post-war ribbon-bars from his period in the Bundeswehr.
