Kriegsmarine 'Schnellboot-Kriegsabzeichen'

Description

2nd Pattern Kriegsmarine E-Boat War Badge (Schnellboot-Kriegsabzeichen). The E-Boat War Badge (1st pattern) was instituted on 30 May 1941 by Oberbefehlshaber der Kriegsmarine und Großadmiral 'Erich Raeder', it was designed by 'Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus' of Berlin. On 28 January 1943 the second version was introduced, it was designed again, by 'Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus' of Berlin in conjunction with Korvettenkapitan 'Rudolf Peterson'. The badge is a 'Zink' (zinc) second pattern badge in good condition. The badge, which still has great detail and finish, has a functional pin and catch. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'R.S.' indicating production by the company of 'Rudolf Souval' from Wien (Vienna). A nice and honest late war Kriegsmarine war badge!
