Social Welfare Medal with Swords (Medaille für Deutsche Volkspflege mit Schwertern). On 1 May 1939, Hitler introduced a series of four Social Welfare awards to replace the earlier DRK (Deutsche Rotes Kreuz) awards. This is the fourth class. The medal is a tombac (Buntmetall) example, the details on the piece really pronounced and stunning. The medal is complete with its original slightly faded ribbon. Swords are attached to the ribbon. From 30 January 1942 the Social Welfare Medal could be awarded with swords attached to the ribbon, swords were awarded for service under dangerous conditions during the war. Hard to find original example in good used condition!
