WW2 Iron Cross 1st Class 'L/12'

Description

Iron Cross first class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse) that comes on its original screw-back disc (Schraubscheibe). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The first class medal was for award to personnel who performed three to five acts of bravery in combat, and had already been awarded the Iron Cross second class. The cross has a three piece construction. The cross is maker marked with 'L/12', indicating production by the company of 'C.E. Juncker' from Berlin. The cross comes on its original and naturally functional screw-back set-up, the disc is slightly vaulted. The small pin (to firmly attach the cross to the uniform) is naturally also present. The cross is in good used conditon. A great looking cross by one of the most desirable makers!
