Unique watercolor by General der Fallschirmtruppen Eugen Meindl. This is a very special and historically interesting original watercolor, created by General der Fallschirmtruppen Eugen Meindl during his captivity in the American prisoner-of-war camp at Allendorf (Germany) in 1947. After his capture on May 22, 1945, Meindl remained in captivity until September 29, 1947, where, in addition to writing military studies, he also painted various watercolors.

The watercolor depicts a forest landscape titled "Junges Laub" and is signed "Meindl" in pencil in the lower left corner and dated 7.5.47. On the reverse side is the original handwritten title "Junges Laub. Bei Allendorf 1947 Meindl".

A letter from the Fallschirmjäger-Kameradschaft Wiesbaden "Eugen Meindl" is included with the watercolor. In this letter, Chairman Joachim F. Müller confirms that the watercolor was indeed painted by Eugen Meindl, that the signature matches known examples from the archive, that the handwritten text on the reverse is also unmistakably by Meindl, and that the work was created during his captivity in Allendorf in 1947.

The watercolor is in good original condition with normal signs of use and storage appropriate for its age. The watercolor measures approximately 31 x 24 cm.

A beautiful piece of history from one of the most famous German paratrooper generals of the Second World War. Original watercolors by Eugen Meindl are offered only sporadically.
