Description

US Veteran Bringback Swastika Flag/Banner (Politische Fahne) and Insignia grouping, brought back by a US Soldier from the 345th Infantry Regiment of the 87th Infantry Division. Probably one of the most recognizable items associated with the Nazi regime (third Reich) is the swastika flag. Utilized by almost all the organization of the Third Reich. The double-sided multi-piece construction flag is sized approximately 367 x 127 cms. The dual-sided flag has a red cotton base with a separate, machine stitched white roundel, having a black printed on Swastika, to the center of each side. The flag shows some small damages and staining but is in overall good condition, see photos. The set includes some small US and German insignia, an DRL Sports Badge and some shoulder-straps, see photos. The set comes together with original capture document on which these items are written down amongst some others which are not present anylonger. Together with the group comes an original book from the soldier of his unit, the 345th Infantry Regiment of the 87th Infantry Division, this rare unit book was published in 1946 and cover the history of his unit. The 87th Infantry Division, known as the Golden Acorn, arrived in Scotland on 22 October 1944 and landed in France during the first week of December 1944. The division spent 134 days in combat on the Western front during World War II and fought in the Alsace , the Ardennes, the Rhineland and crossed the Mosel river into central Germany towards the Czechoslovakian Border.  Take a look at the photos for more details. Interesting original grouping!
