1st Pattern Kriegsmarine E-Boat War Badge (Schnellboot-Kriegsabzeichen). The E-Boat War Badge (first version) was instituted on 30 May 1941 by Oberbefehlshaber der Kriegsmarine und Großadmiral 'Erich Raeder', it was designed by 'Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus' of Berlin. On 28 January 1943 the second version was introduced, it was designed again, by 'Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus' of Berlin in conjunction with Korvettenkapitan 'Rudolf Peterson'. This is a 1st pattern badge, executed in 'Buntmetall' (tombak). The badge shows great detail and still retains most of its original finish, showing polished highlights. The badge is having a complete and funcitional horizontal pin and catch including top hook. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'Schwerin, Berlin 68'. Stunning original example in very good, only slightly worn, condition!
