General Assault Badge '50' (Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen mit Einsatzzahl 50). The General Assault badge was introduced on 1 June 1940 by 'Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch' for award to support personnel who were ineligible for the Infantry or Panzer Assault badges. Criteria for award of the badge was basically the same as the criteria for award of the Infantry and Panzer Assault badges with the main qualification being participation in three separate assaults in a supporting role. By 1943 it was realized that the General Assault Badge didn’t sufficiently recognize the number of assaults that the support personnel participated in, on 22 June 1943 four numbered Special Grades of the General Assault badges were introduced with the numerals: 25, 50, 75 and 100 to represent the number of assaults participated in. The two-piece construction badge is executed in 'Zink' and showing the typical aluminum JFS rivets which are tight and untouched. Most of the original silverish finish on the wreath is remaining. The pin, catch and hinge are in functional condition, no repairs or damage. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'JFS' indicating production by the company of 'Josef Feix & Söhne' from Gablonz an der Neiße. 'JFS' marked badges are much scarcer then the often encountered Karneth examples. Scarce and hard to find original General Assault Badge for 50 Engagements in very good condition!
