Dutch 'Klewang'
This is a nice original Dutch 'Klewang' (Sword) M.1911. KNIL type Klewang complete with light brown coloured scabbard. This is the scabbard with brass blade retaining-clamp around its throat-piece and the later was also provided with a narrow strap to affix the scabberd to the frog. The chape of the scabbard is the lengthened brass version as introduced in 1931 or 1932. The narrow strap has been repaired, see photos, these are however often missing. The blade is nicely maker marked by the 'Hembrug' company, the leather scabbard is marked and dated with 'CW, N, 3 39' which stands for Construction Workshops of the 'Hembrug' Artillery Works, where these scabbards were manufactured. The leather scabbard is dated '3, 39' (March 1939). On top of the guard a brass tag is attached indicating use within an Infantry unit and its showing the weapon number. Nice original 'Klewang' in good used condition!
