Dutch 'KNIL-Voortrekker' Arm Badge

Description

Dutch 'KNIL-Voortrekker' Arm Badge (Mouwembleem). The badge was introduced by order No.25 of the Army Commander Lieutenant General S.H. Spoor on 12 December 1946. It was instituted to wear a badge on the right upper sleeve of the uniform, which indicates that the wearer belongs to those who were called "voortrekker". The badge consists of a black pad, embroidered in orange with the letters N.I.L., above which a royal crown and under which the date 1945-1946. It was awarded to all soldiers belonging to the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army who were in actual service without interruption from 15 August 1945 to 15 August 1946. This is a nicely hand-embroiderd example. Rare original badge in good used condition!
