Early Luftwaffe Paratrooper Badge - 'BSW'
Luftwaffe Paratrooper Badge (Fallschirmschützenabzeichen). The Paratrooper’s qualification badge was instituted by 'Hermann Göring' on 5 November 1936 for award to Luftwaffe personnel who had written the required tests and completed six parachute jumps. This badge is a rare early badge having a nickel siver wreath with a riveted tombak (Buntmetall) eagle. The badge is nicely maker marked with the logo of the 'BSW' company 'Brüder Schneider A.G. Wien'. The badge is in clearly worn condition showing great patina, caused by actual wear on a flight blouse. Unfortunately the pin has been period replaced and the catch is missing, see photos. This badge has just been found in a private household in Soest in the Netherlands and was not part of a collection before. Despite the damage/repair still a tunning and rare original early Paratrooper's Badge!
