Early SA Kepi - 'SA-Gruppe Franken'

Description

Early SA Service Kepi (SA-Dienstmütze).The SA (Sturmabteilung) was originally formed in August 1921 as a protective guard unit for the political leaders of the NSDAP. Early kepis originally didn't have a coloured panel, after 1933 the colour bands were introduced for all ranks. This Kepi is having a yellow colour band indicating the 'SA-Gruppe Franken' (or Sachsen). The yellow wool band has been attached separately and is kept in place by added ventilation grommets, this is indicating that this is probably an early example which has later been altered to new specifications. Both the gold button and early style political eagle are originally attached and complete with their prongs. There is some small moth damage tot the green wool color band, but otherwise the cap is in very fine condition showing normal period wear. There are some initials written inside the kepi. There is a celluloid sweat diamond which is marked by the tailor 'Studenten Utensilien, K. Billenstein' from Würzburg, the kepi is size '56' marked. Very rare and hard to find original early SA Kepi in perfect untouched condition!
