FJ 'Kreta' Document & Medal Grouping

Description

Fallschirmjäger 'Kreta' Document & Medal Grouping named to a Stabsarzt who was a member within the '3./Fallschirm-San.-Abteilung'. The grouping is including his Kreta Cufftitle and Iron Cross 2nd Class, both with their Award-Documents.

The 'Oberarzt' has been awarded with the Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eiserne Kreuz 2. Klasse) on 16 June 1941. The document has been folded once and is in overall very good condition. The cross has a three piece construction, it just shows some minor wear and has great detail overall, the cross comes with its original ribbon as found. It is not visible maker marked.

The 'Kreta' cufftitle was introduced on 16 October 1942 and held the status of a campaign award, since the cufftitle was considered a military combat decoration, it was awarded with a corresponding award document (and entries in the 'Soldbuch' and/or 'Wehrpass'). The cufftitle was to be worn on the right lower arm (except greatcoats). The cufftitle is in a full-length condition and measures approximately 46cms in length. The cufftitle is made of a white cotton background and features the in yellow/gold thread machine embroidered script: 'Kreta', flanked by Acanthus leaves. There is some minor staining and wrinkling caused by years of storage. The award document for cufftitle was awarded to him on 25 June 1943. The document is (facsimile) signed by General der Flieger 'Kurt Student'. This is a very attractive type of award-document showing the FJ Paratrooper Badge positioned on the isle of Crete. The document has been folded once. Desirable original FJ grouping!
