Infantry Assault Badge in Silver 'Gottlieb & Wagner'
Infantry Assault Badge in Silver (Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in Silber). The Infantry Assault Badge in silver was introduced on 20 December 1939 by Generaloberst 'Walther von Brauchitsch', for award to all ranks of non-motorized, Infantry and Mountain Infantry units who participated in three different assaults on three different days. The badge is executed in 'Feinzink' and still retains almost all of its original thick copper coated silver finish showing a nice darkened age patina. The pin and catch are complete and functional, the are nicely attached with a so-called 'waffle-crimp'. The badge is not visible maker marked but can be attributed to production by the company of 'Gottlieb & Wagner' from Idar Oberstein. An uncommon and hard to find manufacturer. Rare original badge in very good condition!
