Luftwaffe M40 Single Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, blue-gray paint and about 80% of the decal. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact, the leather is still supple, the liner is a size '57'. The liner looks to be dated 1942. The liner is complete with its original liner cord. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Q64'. 'Q' is indicating production by the 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' in Esslingen. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped lot-number '31468'. Nice original later war period heavy Quist helmet in good condition!
