NSDAP Ortsgruppe 'Saarbrücken' Flag

Description

NSDAP Ortsgruppe 'Saarbrücken 1 Deutschhaus' Unit Flag (NSDAP Saarland Ortsgruppenfahne). This flag probably dates around 1935 after the rejoining from the Saar Region to Greater Germany, a referendum on the territorial status that was held in the Territory of the Saar Basin on 13 January 1935. In the referendum voters were asked whether the Saar should remain under League of Nations administration, return to Germany or become part of France. Over 90% voted in favour of reuniting with Germany. The double sided flag has a red wool base with a separate, machine stitched multipiece construction black swastika on a white roundel, sewn to the center of each side of the flag. The flag is complete with all aluminum rings. The flag has a light brown wool patch sewn to both sides, showing the white chain-stitched name of the unit "NSDAP Ortsgruppe Saarbrücken 1 Deutschhaus", these patches are trimmed in a silver border, typically seen in unit flags from the Saar Region, normally the patches are trimmed in light-blue signifying an 'Ortsgruppe' Level unit. The flag is trimmed with silver fringe around the edges. The flag is sized approximately 140 x 120 cms. The flag shows some small moth damages and some staining but is in overall nice and good used condition. Very nice and decorative original piece from a rare NSDAP Unit!
